Local news station, WNCT Channel 9, featured a news story on Pitt County Health Department and ECU’s efforts related to Zika prevention. Jim Gardner (Pitt County vector control manager) was shown with our own BS Environmental Health student, Nathaniel Waters (as a summer intern) setting ovitraps and collecting samples in the field. Dr. Stephanie Richards also explains that the collected mosquito eggs are sent to her laboratory to be hatched, reared to adults, identified to species, and counted.
