Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) EOH student, Heidi Knecht, went out to Eagle Island in Brunswick County on June 7, 2019, along with Jeff Brown, Brunswick County’s Vector Control Supervisor, where she collected salt/brackish water mosquito larvae. Heidi brought the mosquito larvae back to East Carolina University for insecticide resistance testing and also for the development of the first lab colony of salt/brackish water mosquitoes for the ECU Environmental Health Sciences Mosquito and Vector-borne Disease Laboratory.
