Will Murray, MS Environmental Health (MSEH)/MPH dual degree student, applied for and received $250 from the HHP Student Professional Development Fund to help pay for his travel and registration fees to attend a mosquito identification course run by Dr. Brian Byrd (Western Carolina University [WCU] Environmental Health Program) at WCU in Cullowhee, NC on May 21-22, 2024. This beginner/intermediate course serves as an introduction to the identification of adult female mosquitoes common in North Carolina since mosquito identification is the first step in risk assessment for mosquito-borne diseases and integrated mosquito management.
