BS Environmental Health alumna, Julie Yang (BSEH ’14), started working for San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) in February 2019 as a Public Health Service Trainee in the Tobacco & Smoking Program, Environmental Health Branch. Her responsibilities include: processing retail tobacco applications; creating marking guides on how to use the inspection reports; inspections and complaint visits at locations with a retail tobacco permit with SFDPH; permit suspension for tobacco sales to minors and 18, 19 and 20 (under 21 years old); and investigating smoking complaints. Julie is also involved in various projects, such as creating flavored tobacco list for business owners who are affected by the Flavored Tobacco Ban passed last year in July 2018.
