MS Environmental Health student, Melissa Nolan, is the recipient of the 2022 North Carolina Public Health Association (NCPHA) Undergraduate/Graduate Education Scholarship. The award is a $1500-scholarship given to an individual pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree with application towards public health practice. Melissa has an overall GPA of 3.7. She has worked as a graduate research assistant on a project involving insecticide resistance in mosquitos and has also been recognized for her work on wastewater testing for COVID-19 in residence halls on ECU campus to protect the health of the campus community. She has also previously served as a 6th and 7th grade science teacher and the department chair.
Melissa was also an Environmental Health Section Scholarship recipient in 2021 and 2022.
