Drs. Sousan and Balanay’s Respirator Research Featured by ECU News Services

A recent article on respirators and face coverings by Dr. Sinan Sousan (Department of Public Health faculty), Dr. Jo Anne Balanay and Omar Chaaban (ECU Honors College graduate) was featured by the ECU News Services team. Drs. Sousan and Balanay were interviewed about the findings of their research, which showed that N95 respirators offer much greater protection against catching COVID-19 and other airborne infections compared to reusable cloth face coverings. They also found that, of the tested KN95 respirators, only 2 out of 5 provided 95% or better filtration. The results of their study were published in the American Journal of Infection Control.
