Guest Blog Contributor: Dean Ricken* (BSEH ’16)
Alexis Parale graduated from our BS Environmental Health program in May 2018. She now resides in Atlanta where she is an EHS Specialist for Intuitive Surgical, Inc. The company is involved in the research, development and manufacture of robotic products that are designed to improve patient outcomes related to minimally invasive surgeries. Alexis’ role involves many different aspects of safety, including development of new EHS programs, incident tracking and assistance with hazardous waste management. Alexis is passionate about raising EHS awareness in the workplace and in the community. Alexis’ initiatives are to build a better safety culture and reduce unsafe behaviors in work environments. In the coming year, Alexis looks forward to training personnel on regulated medical waste and identifying ways to reduce the amount of waste the company generates.
Alexis is also actively pursuing a Masters degree in the environmental field at NC State University and plans to graduate in May 2024. In Alexis’ free time, she enjoys cross stitching and reading mystery and crime novels.
