Guest Blog Contributor: Dean Ricken* (BSEH ’16)

Pahola Salas graduated from the ECU MS Environmental Health program in 2018 after getting her Bachelor’s degree from ECU in Nutrition Sciences. Following graduation, Pahola held Environment Health and Safety (EHS) roles at Duncklee & Dunham, Ajinomoto Health & Nutrition, and Astellas Gene Therapies (Astellas). Pahola, who has worked with Astellas in Sanford, North Carolina for almost a year and a half, is primarily involved in site safety, industrial hygiene and environmental services. Pahola has been using the knowledge gained from her role at Ajinomoto to build up various programs at Astellas. Pahola’s initiatives for the new year include building on their contractor safety program and continuing to set up EHS and inspection systems. Pahola is passionate about the individual projects she manages from start to finish and developing programs that will stay with the facility in the future.

In her spare time, Pahola enjoys reading and spending time outdoors with her family.
