Featured BSEH Alumnus: Chris Henry

Featured BSEH Alumnus: Chris Henry graduated from ECU’s BS Environmental Health program in 2005 and from ECU’s MS Occupational Safety program in 2007. Following graduation, Chris has held Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) roles at DSM Pharmaceuticals in Greenville, NC, Coty in Rocky Point, NC, and Duke Energy Corporation (Duke). Chris is currently Duke’s EHS Program Manager for Nuclear and Commercial Renewables. Half of Duke’s energy in the Carolinas is generated by nuclear power plants. Chris, who has worked with the company for over 10 years, is primarily involved in advancing the safety and environmental program and ensuring program compliance among six (6) different nuclear sites. In the new year, Chris is focused on identifying high energy hazards and making strides to better control them and reduce risks to facility personnel. Chris is passionate about protecting company assets, ensuring their businesses do not have adverse environmental impacts, and increasing education in the safety profession as a whole.

In his spare time, Chris enjoys outdoor beach activities, such as fishing and wake boarding.
