Featured BSEH Alumna: Alexandria Lepock

Guest Blog Contributor: Dean Ricken* (BSEH ’16)

Alexandria Lepock graduated from ECU’s BS Environmental Health program in 2011 and served as the President of the ECO Pirates club while at school. Following graduation, Alexandria held Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) roles at Biogen for 3.5 years, Novozymes for 3.5 years, Honeywell for 2 years and Bayer Crop Science for the last 2 years. Her role at Biogen was a unique experience as she gained experience in many different areas including sustainability, exposure monitoring, and safety. Alexandria’s role at Novozymes was very safety-focused as she began to learn and understand how to manage high risk safety programs. She also earned her ‘certified safety professional’ (CSP) credential and saw firsthand how her efforts resulted in a positive shift in the safety culture. Alexandria then shifted to a role at Honeywell in Raleigh, NC where she supported the company’s Electronic Manufacturing Division. It was in this role where she worked to establish a safety culture for her facilities from scratch. This role really tested Alexandria as she developed specific programs to fit the research and development environment and built a strong level of respect with personnel in her facilities. Now at Bayer Crop Science in Virginia Beach, Alexandria is primarily involved in supporting Bayer’s North America field testing operations which include 31 locations spread out between the U.S. and Canada. She is currently rolling out a new program review and training matrix tool which will help provide managers with training assignments and keep personnel accountable. Alexandria is one of the most outspoken and passionate EHS professionals I have encountered. She is hyper-focused on promoting wellness and health to employees and people and an environmental activist.

In her spare time, Alexandria is a foodie who enjoys traveling and hiking new places with her husband Steve and German Shepherd dog, Jack.
