Dr. Avian White and MS Environmental Health (MSEH) students visited the GUC (Greenville Utilities Commission) wastewater treatment plant today. The visit was under the tutelage of Mr. Jim Gardner, retired Pitt County Vector Control. The purpose of the visit was to show students some potential sites to collect mosquito larvae and/or set mosquito traps. The team was particularly looking for Culex mosquitoes for insecticide resistance testing, which is part of a research grant from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
