Food Sanitation Lecture Series, Spring 2024: Ms. Riddick as Guest Speaker

In this week’s Food Sanitation Lecture series for Spring Semester 2024, the invited guest speaker was Ms. Britney Riddick, Pitt County Environmental Health Specialist (EHS) in the Food, Lodging and Institutions section. She covered several food-related topics, such as restriction/exclusion of food service employees with communicable diseases. She also gave a demonstration, using Glo Germ products, on the effectiveness of proper handwashing. Other topics that she covered include:

  • Bar soap versus liquid soap
  • Vaping in food service establishments
  • Campus food service establishments
  • Bedbugs, public swimming pools
  • Festivals as temporary food events
  • Sewage and solid waste disposal in food service establishments
  • Improper storage of medicines in child care facilities
  • Food trucks
