Where Do Bugs Go in the Wintertime

Dr. Richards posts a third Terminix blog this week on the whereabouts of arthropods during the wintertime when ambient temperature drops.  She described how these arthropods cope to survive during the winter, including the production of a sort of ‘antifreeze’ to protect them from freezing, overwintering as eggs, larvae, pupae or adults, and slowing down in development.  Specifically, she explained the coping mechanisms of cockroaches, spiders, ants, butterflies, mosquitoes and ticks in order to survive the winter.
