Dr. Stephanie Richards posted a Terminix blog on issues with rodents in urban environments.  Rodent species, such as Norway rats, black rats and house mice, are oftern considered public health pests in urban environments.  Rodents and pathogens may be more prevalent in some types of urban environments than others and, thus, more research on rat ecology in urban areas should be conducted.  In the blog, Dr. Richards identified steps to help prevent infestations, such as cleaning up clutter to prevent pest harborage areas and removing potential sources of food and water.
