Dr. Richards posted a Terminix blog this week on how abandoned properties affect mosquito production. She described how financial downtown contributed to the depression of the housing market in some regions of the country, resulting to increased rate of home foreclosures and possibly abandoned properties that may serve as mosquito egg-laying sites. These sites may include abandoned swimming pools, neglected properties overgrown with vegetation and other water-holding items (e.g., tires, plant pots).
