Chelsea Williams (BSEH ’14) is an industrial hygienist with the Directorate of Public Health, Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune. Her responsibilities include planning and conducting complete evaluations of work operations on Camp Lejeune’s base to assess worker exposures to chemical, physical, and biological hazards, analyze findings, and recommend corrective controls to reduce or eliminate the exposure of the hazardous condition. She is involved in performing different types of industrial hygiene activities, such as noise dosimetry, air sampling, ventilation readings, respiratory fit testing, indoor air quality assessment, and more.
Words from Chelsea:
“I really enjoy working on a military base and able to incorporate industrial hygiene methods into the military work ethics. One day I may be doing an onsite walkthrough survey at the air station with the ospreys and helicopters, the next day doing indoor air quality sampling at the hospital, and ending the week with lead wipe sampling at the armory. Every day is a different and exciting day at the office, and you never know what to expect!”
