The AIHA ECU Student Section invited Mr. Darren Cayton, CIH, tonight as a guest speaker from Workplace Hygiene, Inc., an industrial hygiene (IH) consulting firm based in Greensboro, NC that provides comprehensive consulting services to clients in the U.S. and internationally. Mr. Cayton is an ECU BS Environmental Health alumnus and serves as the liaison from the Carolinas AIHA Local Chapter for the AIHA ECU Student Section.  He shared with the student members his educational and professional background as an industrial hygienist, the various workplaces where he conducted IH sampling and monitoring, some interesting experiences he had with their clients, and some advice on how to pursue a career in industrial hygiene.  He also brought in some of the instruments and equipment (e.g., diffusive sampler for volatile organic compounds, noise dosimeter, sampling pumps) he uses in the field to show the student members.  We thank Mr. Cayton for sharing his expertise in industrial hygiene and suggesting IH connections with the student chapter.
