Banner Objects – Naming Conventions and what they mean – Part 1 of 4

Banner objects include FormsTablesReports, and Jobs. Often they have a unique name that is seven characters long. The first character in the name is equivalent to a section of the Banner system. For example, if you work with the SPRAIDEN form, the “S” indicates that it is from the Student section of the Banner system. Another example is if you utilize the GJRRPTS report, the “G” indicates that the report is from the General section of the Banner system. Below I have listed the first characters and the section that they belong to in Banner.

F – Finance

G – General

N – Position Control

P – Payroll

R – Financial Aid

S- Student

Look for Part 2 of 4 Wednesday for what the second letter means. Contact me if you think you know: mcneill@ecu.edu
