Banner Objects – Naming Conventions and what they mean – Part 2 of 4

In Part 1 of Banner Objects – Naming Conventions and what they mean – we learned the first letter indicates the Banner System. In Part 2, we will focus on the second letter of a Banner name. The second letters point us to the module in Banner. For example, when you use the PEAEMPL form to update employee data after a transfer, you know the P from last week indicates Payroll but the E points to the Employee module. Another example, the SAAADMS form is used to update a student application information, the S from last week’s lesson means Student system, and the A indicates the Applicant module. Below are examples of the second letter module meanings:

A – Applicant Module

B – Budget Module

C – Catalog

D – Benefits and Deductions

E – Employee

T – Validation

S – Security

In Part 3 of the series, we will discuss what the third letter means. Do you have questions please send me an email at mcneill@ecu.edu.
