Dr. Balanay Presents at the 31st Annual Joint Safety and Environmental Symposium

Dr. Jo Anne Balanay presented today her research titled, “Comparison between EPA UV Index App and UV Monitor to Assess Risk for Solar Ultraviolet Radiation Exposure in in Agricultural Settings in Eastern North Carolina” during the 31st Annual Joint Safety and Environmental Professional Development Symposium (PDS). She gave her presentation, along with other presenters from government agencies, industry, and academia.

The PDS is a virtual event held from April 17-21, 2023 and an online professional development opportunity for Department of Defense uniformed and civilian professionals to share innovative ideas, new trends, and new information in areas of safety and occupational health, environmental protection and industrial hygiene. It is open to Federal personnel, Federal contractors, and students pursuing coursework in related fields. The PDS provided over 100 educational sessions to more than 2,900 registered participants from 50 states, one United States territory, and 35 countries. Participants’ backgrounds ranged from safety, industrial hygiene, environmental, occupational health, public health, radiation health, and occupational medicine.
