Close to finishing our second site!

Another beautiful morning for diving in Cahuita! The goals of the field school are progressing well, and at this rate we should complete all our tasks by the time we head back to Greenville, North Carolina!

We were back working on the brick site today. The entire crew really worked well and came together as a team. Despite the strong surge and reduced visibility, the teams coordinated their mapping procedures with the adjacent crew members. During the previous days on the site, some of which had strong surge as well, in close situations people were constantly bumping into each other. Today, we did not impede each other by stirring up sediment or by pulling on the baseline. Everyone was aware of their immediate surroundings and in control of buoyancy.

When it came time to recording the depth of the baseline at 5 meter intervals, Kelsey and I worked around the other teams to get the measurements we needed without disturbing their mapping efforts. All together the teams finished mapping a total of (three) units. With the little bit of time and air we had left, we took videos of the different types of fish at both ends of the baseline. We will soon be done with our time here on the brick site and will move on to the next exciting location.
