Gwinnett Braves Public Affairs-Baseball Information Traine
Description:
The Gwinnett Braves Trainee program is designed for applicants who are interested in pursuing a career in professional sports. This program not only provides trainees with a valuable experience in the day-to-day operations of a professional baseball team, but it also gives trainees the opportunity to start networking in the sports industry. The Public Affairs-Baseball Information Trainee will assist the Public Affairs Manager and Media and Public Relations Coordinator in all aspects of the public affairs department including but not limited to; creating and editing media guides and publications, writing game notes and post-game stories, recording and updating statistical records as well as management of the press box and media requests.
Requirements:
1. College student or recent graduate working toward/possessing a degree in Sports Management, Public Relations, Communications or related field
2. Detail-oriented, organized and excellent verbal and written communication skills
3. Ability to multi-task and work with strict deadlines
4. Familiar with baseball rules and scoring
5. Experience with graphic design (Photoshop CS3, Illustrator, Adobe)
6. Ability to learn multiple computer programs quickly
7. TV production knowledge a plus
8. Flexible schedule: available February – September; able to work nights and weekends on non-game days as needed
Responsibilities:
1. Collect, copy and distribute press “clippings” to entire front office
2. Create and update statistical records for media distribution
3. Write pre-game notes and post-game stories
4. Write and edit publications including media guide, magazines and gameday guides
5. Produce scorecards and statistical inserts for fans
6. Assist with media requests including credential and player requests
7. Press box hospitality
8. Fulfills other responsibilities as assigned by the Community and Public Affairs Manager, Media and Public Relations Coordinator, other Department Managers, or General Manager
