Description:
The Nation Institute, in conjunction with The Nation magazine, offers an internship program for college seniors and graduates interested in magazine journalism and publishing. To gain editorial experience interns check facts and conduct research, have an opportunity to write for TheNation.com, and participate in career seminars with journalists experienced in the fields of politics and social justice, in addition to performing administrative work.The internship is full time, 10:00 to 6:00, five days a week. The Spring 2011 session begins January 4 and ends May 20, and the deadline for postmarked applications is November 5, 2010. There are ten intern positions during each session (nine in New York and one in Washington; two positions in New York are web internships with TheNation.com). There is a $150/week stipend.
Application Procedure: In addition to a cover letter indicating your interest in The Nation and describing your career goals, send a résumé, two letters of recommendation and two writing samples. Published clips are preferred, though academic papers and creative writing samples are acceptable (no longer than 8 pages please).
