ARTS NC STATE, the umbrella organization for the six visual and performing arts programs of North Carolina State University, invites applications for the position of Assistant Marketing Coordinator. NOTE: This position is classified as full-time temporary, and does not include benefits.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
CREATION OF PUBLISHED MATERIALS (both print and electronic)
Web: Responsible for management of the ARTS NC STATE website hierarchy and content, including adherence to and enforcement of brand standards. Work with individual programs to plan content, and implement frequent website updates.
Social Media: Lead and advise the individual arts programs on the strategic use of social marketing in developing student and community audiences.
Print Publications: Assist with editing and producing all collective ARTS NC STATE print publications (e.g., arts calendars, playbills), and design supplemental marketing pieces for individual programs as appropriate.
Writing: Write and edit content for both print and electronic use, including (but not limited to) promotional copy, feature articles and news releases.
Playbill: Collect content and design performance inserts for the ARTS NC STATE playbill, coordinate print production of the inserts, and assist with all other aspects of playbill creation and production.
E-Mail Marketing: Work with the marketing coordinator to edit and create the monthly ARTS NC STATE e-mail newsletter, and with the individual programs to strategize appropriate use of supplemental e-mail marketing.
Collective ads in Technician (campus newspaper): Design all ARTS NC STATE ads that appear in Technician (weekly and day of event), monitor to make sure ads are published as scheduled, and confirm the accuracy of invoices.
OTHER WORK RESPONSIBILITIES
PUBLIC/MEDIA RELATIONS
Public Relations: Represent ARTS NC STATE at PR opportunities on- and off-campus.
Positioning/Branding: Work with the marketing coordinator on efforts to improve identity and increase public awareness of ARTS NC STATE programs.
PROGRAM ADVICE AND SUPPORT
Graphics Standards: Work with the marketing coordinator and ARTS PR Committee to develop unified graphic standards for ARTS NC STATE publications, and create and manage an arts image database.
Individual Program Graphic Design support: Work with individual arts programs to advise, design and produce publicity support materials, consistent with ARTS NC STATE and NC State University graphic standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in a related field such as the arts, communications or marketing. Three or more years of work experience in the arts, marketing, public relations, or a related field is desired. Candidate will have excellent written, oral and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail (including knowledge of correct English usage, AP and Chicago style guides). Candidate must demonstrate strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite programs (especially Dreamweaver) and working knowledge of HTML and CSS. Candidate must be prepared to demonstrate design sense and capabilities. Staff is looking for a savvy individual who is a team player and capable of working with a variety of clients (from students to professors) with patience and gusto; demonstrates passion for the arts; thrives on an active environment; and can handle multiple time-sensitive deadlines simultaneously. Ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound is preferred, but not required. A flexible schedule is required as some evening and weekend work is expected.
