I. Overview of Community Relations and Cheerleader/Mascot Department
• Director of Community Relations and Cheerleader/Mascot Programs: Riley Fields
• Community Relations – develop partnerships and programs that create positive impacts for children and families in our region, as well as connect the team and our fans.
• Cheerleader/Mascot/Purrcussion Drumline Programs – oversees appearances & programs for the TopCats, Sir Purr and Purrcussion Drumline
• Youth/High School Football & Military Programs – Develop and maintain the team’s strong grassroots connection at the youth, high school football and military level by increasing program diversity, outreach and participation each year.
II. Fall Internship Responsibilities (Start Mid August; End at conclusion of season)
• Assist coordinating and implementing Community Relations Department programs including but not limited to:
• Junior Training Camp (day trips)
• Community Captain, Coach of the Week
• Write articles for team publications (web, GAMETIME & ROAR)
• Assist with player appearances (securing players & attending appearances)
• Relieve receptionist from phone duty (2 – 15 min. breaks)
• Fit Squad Kids Combine (game day)
• Donations
• Assist with Sir Purr special appearances
• Junior TopCats
• Fan Mail
• Assist w/ the planning and execution of NFL Tuesday Events
• Other
• Assist with game day operations
• Relieve receptionist from phone duty (2 – 15 min. breaks)
• Other duties as assigned
INTERN CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
• Full-time undergraduate/graduate student
• Candidate MUST receive college credit in order to qualify for internship
• Polite, positive, self-starter who works well with others
• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
• Strong writing skills – 1-3 page writing samples will be required.
• Detail oriented; organized (maintain a neat working environment)
• Can work independently when given a task and have focus to follow through & follow up if problems arise
• Ability to interact with players & staff in a professional manner
• Computer skills (MS Office; MS Word, Excel & Outlook)
• Proactive in asking questions when needed
• Team player, humble enough to handle a variety of tasks “no job beneath them”
• Ability to handle physical requirement of job including setting up equipment for events and other light to medium lifting.
