We believe that the internship is the cornerstone of a student’s professional preparation. It allows a student to apply classroom theories, concepts and prior experience in a practical, professional setting. We’ve structured our program accordingly.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Open to COLLEGE STUDENTS ONLY; Juniors, Seniors, and Graduate Students
• Must be seeking an internship for class credit as a prescribed part of curriculum (students will be required to submit documentation from their school)
• Some game nights and/or weekends may be required depending on the position; flexibility to participate a plus
• Must demonstrate professionalism, a customer-first attitude, enthusiasm, and strong verbal and written communication skills, in addition to the requirements for the “Open Internships”
• No financial compensation is available, and housing and transportation are the responsibility of the student
OPEN INTERNSHIPS…..
COMMUNITY RELATIONS
• Learn to handle and assist with donation inquiries, with appropriate supervision.
• Assist with maintaining CR donation database.
• Participate and assist with various community outreach programs and special events.
• Assist with updating and maintaining inventory, including autograph merchandise, promotional items, and supplies.
• Search press clips and nominations for Hometown Hero candidates.
• Research current trends and new ideas for community programs, fundraisers, etc.
• Participate during game-nights at the Sixers Charities table. (Fall/Spring)
• Assist with the planning and execution of the 76ers Summer Hoops Tour. (Summer)
• Assist with the planning and execution of the 76ers Beach Bash charity event.
• (Summer)
LIVE EVENTS
• Learn and assist in writing the scripts for each home game
• Learn to plan and prepare the game-night activities for Philadelphia 76ers home games
• Under the supervision of the game day crew, assist and carry out promotions during the games
• Update/create spreadsheets for Live Events activities and operations
• Brainstorm with other members of the Live Events department and 3601 Creative Group
• Help create new in-game contests, videos and other additions to enhance game presentation
• Participate in other events as appropriate during the internship term
• Perform objectives and projects as assigned
MARKETING
• Learn fulfillment process of customer service phone inquiries
• Assist with coordination of collateral material such as promotional material such as promotional pieces, schedules, calendars, etc.
• Lead grassroots initiatives under the presence and supervision of a regular Marketing staff member
• Assist with Read to Achieve, Summer-Hoops Tour and other 76ers community oriented programs
• Assist with maintenance of contact lists / databases
• Assist with marketing staff on 76ers radio, print, new media and television promotions
• Assist with marketing staff various projects involving research and design
• Assist with interaction and coordination of In-game marketing tabling and events
• Participate in brainstorming sessions with Marketing staff
• Assist with creating presentations, charts and graphs.
• Perform other objectives and projects as assigned
NEW MEDIA
• Assists with coordinating New Media marketing efforts for the Philadelphia 76ers with a heavy emphasis and focus on Sixers.com as it pertains to overall brand, look, feel, graphics, content, etc.
• Assists with updating Sixers.com to ensure that content is fresh and web-appropriate; proofreads content for accuracy and ensures that all links function properly
• Participates in the creation, design, editing and posting of texts and video content on sixers.com on a regular basis and helps ensure that the presentation is in line with corporate branding efforts, is user friendly and is appealing to users
• Assist New Media Staff with the production of e-mails for marketing and sales campaigns that will maximize revenue and maintain relationships with e-mail subscribers and customers
• Learn to build and request content, obtain proper authorization/ sign-off and implement HTML, image and content edit from various individuals/ departments
• Assists in the implementation of social media strategies & solutions such as, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.
• Assists in the implementation of New Media initiatives that not only grow the current email database, but also focuses on retention
• Assists in the implementation of the aforementioned New Media initiatives and metrics established by corporate, in-house New Media department
• Assists in the research, monitoring and reporting on competitor websites and new/developing technology platforms regularly
• Participate in New Media brainstorming sessions
• Other objectives and projects assigned by New Media Manager and Director of New Media
PUBLIC RELATIONS
• Assist with drafting press releases and media advisories for use in promoting various events
• Assist with providing statistical information, credentials, etc., for visiting teams’ public relations staff
• Assembling media kits and copy points for radio and television promotion of events, including opportunities to distribute those media kits with supervisor
• Brainstorming publicity opportunities with the PR team
• Learn to track media coverage on a daily and game-by-game basis
• Participate in the creation of game-day and seasonal publications
• Learn how an NBA PR staff functions during home games
• Performing all other objectives and projects as assigned
