GPAT23 Internships
GPAT23 offers internships to provide college and graduate-level students an opportunity to learn professional methods of media production, non-profit video program development, and the value of community-generated media.
GPAT23 is a small non-profit public access cable station (Channel 23, Suddenlink Cable in Pitt County, NC, and live streaming at www.gpattv.org) We depend heavily on the work of volunteers and interns. We have a variety of learning experiences that can help students develop solid skills in the areas of digital video production/ post-production, media education, fundraising and event planning, and digital video distribution/social network marketing. GPAT23 has a small video studio located at 300B West Arlington Blvd. in Greenville.
Current Internship Opportunities Fall 2010
GPAT23 is currently seeking highly qualified students to assist in the creation of studio video productions. These internships are ideal for individuals interested in gaining experience in small-studio digital video production.
Position 1
This internship involves mainly technical work in order to produce 3-camera interview programs in the GPAT23 studio.
This unique opportunity will provide an exposure to all parts of studio production: set design/creation, lighting, audio, graphics integration, technical directing, and digital recording. Great training for professional skills that are necessary in small production facilities.
Student should have basic understanding of video camera operation, audio microphones, cables and switchers, and be able to multitask. Intern will receive direction and training regarding all task required of this internship.
Position 2
This internship involves tasks associated with a producer and an on-camera presenter.
This intern will create a weekly 15-minute program that will be cablecast frequently on GPAT23. Student will gather and compile community information about upcoming events and activities; gather, create and compile any graphics, video or text; create a script; and verbally present the information to a camera in the GPAT23 studio. Some work can be done at home, such as gathering and compiling the information, which can be done via the internet. The weekly program will be presented “news-style”, where the intern will present the information in front of a “greenscreen.” Intern will obtain or create the visual and/or text images that will appear in the background. Intern will create a script that coordinates the spoken word with the images that will appear in the “greenscreen.” Intern will have to dress appropriately for the on-camera presentation and have good diction and public speaking skills.
