We offer several internships per semester, both in our main offices in New York and DC, as well as our regional offices in Chicago, Atlanta, and San Francisco.
About our internships:
Internships are granted for periods of 12 – 16 weeks on average and all of our internships are unpaid. However, interns will receive a small stipend for incidental or other expenses, when applicable. Our internship program offers flexible hours to accommodate class and work schedules.
About human rights work:
The work and commitment of interns is essential to the continuous development of Amnesty International as a powerful voice for human rights worldwide. Candidates can apply for a variety of programs, from working with our Field Organizers and Research Team on priority campaigns, such as Individuals at Risk, Demand Dignity, Death Penalty Abolition or Security with Human Rights, to positions with our Fundraising, External Affairs and Operations Units.
What else you can expect:
Amnesty interns will gain experience working in the nonprofit world and will have the unique opportunity to advance their knowledge of the human rights field. Through ourHuman Rights Seminar series, Amnesty interns have the chance to learn about contemporary human rights issues from our staff members and special guest speakers and to discuss various human rights concerns at length. Additionally, we offer our interns career and professional development workshops targeted specifically towards young professionals starting a career in human rights.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as computer skills
- Those who are well-organized, dependable, and responsible
- A willingness to learn from their internship experience and apply what they learn to their work
