Angels Baseball – 2012 INTERNSHIPS – Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (Anaheim, CA)
The following departments may require an intern for the duration of the internship year, January 2012 – December 2012.
Corporate Sales/Sponsorship, Marketing, Media Relations, Community Relations, Stadium/Ballpark Operations, Guest Relations, Finance
Interns are paid hourly in the program and will work 40 regular business hours per week during their internship year. Interns are also expected to commit to the full year. Applicants must be able to work flexible and some unusual hours during the team’s season including nights and weekends. Listed below are brief descriptions for the various departments:
Corporate Sales/Sponsorship
The Corporate Sales Intern will assist the team’s Sponsorship Services Manager in ensuring adherence to sponsor contract provisions, including monitoring merchandise inventory, execution of promotions and planning/execution of special events, act as a sponsor contact responding and fulfilling any request made by the sponsor, maintain records for all sponsor activities, tasks and accomplishments, assist Corporate Account Executives with research sales projects and assist with general operation of the Sponsorship Service Department.
Marketing
The Marketing Intern will assist with the implementation of assigned in-venue promotion set-up and game day promotion preparation and coordination; track, coordinate and manage assigned website copy communication with web editor; manage assigned project work related to design and production of sales and marketing collateral and merchandise materials; assist with Kids Membership Club solicitations, registration drive and membership fulfillment; assist in coordinating media promotions with local radio, TV and print outlets participating on-site; support Marketing staff with administrative duties; take lead on annual Fan Appreciation Day prize procurement including solicitations, prize distribution coordination and fulfillment; actively participate in the creative development process.
In addition, candidate may be strongly considered if he/she has:
- Basic skills in graphic design (print, video and web graphics) with knowledge to navigate a Mac operating system and manipulate Photoshop design software
- Basic idea of design concepts for the purpose of assisting comp presentation preparations
- Basic visualization skills and knowledge of multimedia
Community Relations
Reporting to the Manager of Community Relations, the Community Relations Intern works closely with the manager in processing donation requests/inquiries from guests, community groups and organizations. The intern coordinates, sorts, and processes fan mail and arranges the Angel Stadium tour schedule. Additionally, handles message requests for the scoreboard and coordinates the distribution of tickets to charitable organizations. This position also assists with the preparation for various major community relations events and Angels Baseball Foundation projects.
Media Relations
Primary responsibilities for the Media Relations Intern will include maintaining and distributing daily newspaper and magazine clips, daily gathering, preparation and dissemination of pre-game information including rosters, lineups, game notes and releases. The intern will: assist with press box game management; participate in writing and production of publications and organizing photographs; work with media staff in notifying media members of breaking news and handling daily media written correspondence and fan/media phone inquiries; handle extensive statistical research projects for media and coaching staffs; and work with Publications Manager and Broadcasting Manager on occasion.
Stadium/Ballpark Operations
Reporting to the Director of Ballpark Operations, it is expected that the intern contribute to the overall department efficiency by assisting in the daily administration of all events at Angel Stadium. Intern will assist department in the planning and organization of all events at Angel Stadium which includes helping the Event Manager in preparing detailed event memos used by all departments at Angels Baseball. They will also assist in preparing parking lists for both Angel Stadium Events and Angel’s games; act as a contact for all third-party companies at Angel Stadium; issues TV crew credentials and TV booth assignments at Angel Stadium during Angel games; and performs a variety of other duties associated with the efficient management of the stadium.
Finance
Reporting to the Controller for Angels Baseball, this intern supports both Angels Baseball and KLAA AM830 – Primary responsibilities for Angels Baseball include: Daily Flash reports for Spring Training, 2011 Season, and special events; concession Stand inspections; and various special projects. Primary responsibilities for KLAA AM830 radio include: Process payments in Marketron and Great Plains daily; apply payments to contracts and invoices in Marketron; prepare monthly invoices for clients; update contracts in Marketron; enter journal entries in Great Plains.
Guest Relations
Reporting to the Director of Client Services, the Guest Relations Intern will contribute to departmental efficiency by assisting in the daily execution, administration and support of the Guest Relations, Client Service and Ticket Sales Team. Primary responsibilities will include preparation of game day material and schedules, managing assigned project work related to Season Seat Sales and Tickets Sales, providing exemplary Guest Service to all fans of Angels Baseball, and assistance in supervising the Angels Guest Relations staff. The intern will also assist Director, Client Service and Event Managers in acting as an in-stadium contact for any Guest Service related issues during stadium events; handle all Guest Service related email inquiries to Angels Baseball; assist in providing follow up and Guest Recovery when warranted; handle all Lost and Found related inquiries and database maintenance throughout the event season; and handle any extensive research or tracking projects related to Service, Ticket Sales and Marketing. Ideal candidates should possess a strong understating of concepts relating to guest service and service recovery and have previous supervisory and/or training experience with multiple employees.
