CNN: John King

CNN is offering a paid summer internship with its chief political correspondent John King, based in Washington, DC. The 12-week internship runs from June 4 to August 10, pays minimum wage and college credit is available.

John King is anchor of CNN’s 6 p.m. ET program, John King, USA, and CNN’s Chief National Correspondent. Interns will learn how Team King plans stories and executes package production and lives. Interns will shadow and assist producers working with John King. They will also receive assistance from the Team if they would like to work on a story of their own. Intern duties include research, fact-checking, tapes logging, assistance with interviews and participation at press events. Interns should come away with sharper editorial and writing skills, exposure to leading technology and an increased knowledge of the U.S. government and political system.

The following qualifications are preferred: 1) Broadcast Journalism, Media or Communications major; 2) Strong current events knowledge and interest in news and politics; 3) Knowledge of CNN news platforms (network shows, website) is helpful. Applicants must have completed their sophomore year in college prior to the start of the internship. In addition, applicants may not have graduated college or graduate school prior to the start of the internship.
