WFTS-TV, an E.W. Scripps owned ABC affliate in Tampa is accepting resumes for Summer 2012 internships. The WFTS Internship is paid and requires 20 hours per week for a 10 week period to coincide with the university calendar. The following is a list of criteria to qualify for an internship at WFTS-TV: Must be enrolled in an accredited internship program at an accredited college or university.
Accredited internship program should focus in broadcast journalism, communications or other related field of study. Registered as a Sophomore or above and in good standing. Receive college/university course credit for participating in this program. The amount of course credit to be earned is determined and must be verified by the college/university prior to starting the assignment. To receive course credit, students must comply with all school requirements as well as all WFTS-TV requirements. Grade point average and leadership experience are also an important part of the total assessment of student applicants. Interns must successfully complete the pre-employment screenings before the internship placement is officially confirmed. Interns will have a supervisor at the station that is responsible for coordinating the on-site internship experience, from goal setting to final evaluation. Depending on the department you will intern in, you will learn some of the following: actual on-the-job training from professional reporters and producers, shooting stand-ups and assembling a tape of your own work, working in the field with reporters and photographers, assisting in our daily stories, conducting interviews, researching stories, contributing story ideas, logging tape, writing broadcast news, including voice-overs and sound-to-tape. The following skills are required to be considered for the intership: computer/typing skills ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in person and on the phone completed at least one broadcast journalism writing course good organization skills. |
