(New York NY) Summer 2012 Internships: Marketing & Communications National Academy Museum & School, NYC Jun 1 – August 30 The National Academy Museum & School (www.nationalacademy.org) is the only institution of its kind that integrates a museum, art school, and honorary association of artists and architects dedicated to creating and furthering a living history of American art. Founded in 1825 by Samuel F. B. Morse, Thomas Cole and Asher B. Durand, the Academys permanent collection of over 7,000 nineteenth century, twentieth century, and contemporary works form a veritable survey of American art and architecture. The Academy School offers studio-based study in an intimate, creative environment, supporting the artistic journey of each student. The Academy supports artists and architects through exhibition and education and plays a critical role in fostering the visual arts in America. Marketing and Communication interns will gain experience in developing marketing campaigns, communicating with media, and promoting art programs and art classes through traditional marketing, social media, community engagement and media relations campaign. Responsibilities include researching prospects for community outreach, creating marketing materials, assisting in social media campaigns, updating data base, coordinating collateral materials, preparing press clipping, assisting in special events, public programs and special projects. Candidates must be self-motivated, computer & design savvy, independent, creative, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task.
