The documentary film Shattered Sky is going viral on Facebook, with about 200,000 likes. We’re in search of a SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN to join our team, help keep up the momentum, and successfully engage college students throughout America. See: http://fb.me/ShatteredSkyMovie

Shattered Sky premieres at the DC Environmental Film Festival on March 25, 2012 and on national public television later this year. Your role will be to extend Shattered Sky’s engagement on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. You will work directly with Shattered Sky’s Social Media Director Rob Bellon and the film’s director/producer Steve Dorst. The position is unpaid.

Shattered Sky chronicles how America solved the ozone crisis and challenges viewers to help restore America’s sense of confidence and optimism that we can solve the challenges of energy and climate change.

This Internship is not for beginners. This position requires strong writing and editing skills, knowledge of the web as a multi-way communications and engagement tool, a very strong background in Twitter and Facebook, a proven eye for detail, and an ability to work flexibly and collaboratively. This is an opportunity to work on a major campaign for a documentary film with national distributionand make a difference in America’s ability to solve climate change. You make your own hours and can be based anywhere. We ask that you commit at least one hour per day.

Duties and Accountabilities:
Translate Shattered Sky’s social media strategy into executable plans in the social media space to build engagement. Set targets and timeline for social media programs and key initiatives, including user-generated content, contests, ratings, recommendations, micro-engagement opportunities, and other elements. Update and manage Shattered Sky’s accounts on Twitter, Facebook , YouTube , and other social media outposts. Engage online audiences, both reactively and proactively, ultimately empowering people with knowledge about how America’s solution to the ozone hole can lead to action and progress on climate change and energy policy today. Monitor key performance indicators/metrics for quantifying the benefit and impact of social, mobile and other alternative media.

Selection Criteria:
Proven experience in online and social media Deep knowledge of social media tools, including social networking, bookmarking, collaboration, photo and video sharing, tagging, and blog publishing. Strong understanding of social media in relation to the broader media, particularly TV and documentary film. Knowledge/experience relating to single-issue advocacy, particularly knowledge of and interest in climate change, renewables, clean tech, and energy issues. Demonstrated willingness to experiment and innovate.
