Position Overview
The True Venture Media Group (WECU-1570AM Radio) is currently seeking a positive, motivated marketing/communications intern to be a part of a media team. This internship includes responsibilities for organizing, preparing, coordinating, and executing promotional campaigns. In addition the experience will include working with on-air talent, brainstorming new ideas, and communicating with clients and advertisers. This unpaid internship is an ideal opportunity to gain valuable real-world experience at a growing dynamic organization that is positioned strategically for the future.
This marketing/communications internship may be a first step toward establishing a career in broadcasting, advertising, direct marketing, promotion, publicity, and public relations. The intern gains valuable knowledge to create and propagate media products through mass communication channels like print, television, radio, and the internet. The intern will learn to identify the target audience and then build campaigns that will convert audiences into customers.
Job Function
The overall job function is to support the corporate marketing plan with activities related to demand generation initiatives including: webcasts, PR, broadcast programs, surveys, customer retention and acquisition, email campaigns, online marketing programs, and affiliates campaigns and reporting, and participating in collaborative marketing meetings, copywriting and event planning.
A sample of duties will include:
- Leveraging media channels using Twitter, Facebook, website, traditional and internet radio, and email.
- Assist the marketing campaign with administrative reporting, project flow and internal communications.
- Assist with database marketing, data integrity and reporting process completion.
- Organize marketing communications from the management team.
- Support Field-Marketing media campaigns in broadcasting, on the web, and print.
Other administrative duties will include:
- Write advertising copy for use by publication, broadcast or internet media to promote the sale of products and services.
- Write concise articles, bulletins, sales letters, and other related informative, marketing and promotional material.
- Consult with sales, media and marketing representatives to obtain information on product or service.
- Position text and art elements from a variety of databases in a visually appealing way to design print or web pages, using knowledge of type styles and size and layout patterns.
- Collect and analyze data on customer demographics, preferences, needs, and buying habits to identify potential markets and factors affecting product demand.
- Prepare, rewrite and edit copy to improve readability of documents and/or products.
- Read copy or proof to detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation, and syntax.
- Plan the contents of publications according to the publication’s style, editorial policy, and publishing requirements.
