Internship – Event Management

This Internship is for Fall 2012.
Looking for experience in Event Management? Our Event Management Intern will learn how to successfully plan and execute operational and entertainment elements, catering, ticket and tour requests, air and ground transportation, merchandise, credentials/giveaways and itinerary development as related to event goals/objectives. Toward the end of the internship, the Event Management Intern may have the opportunity (pending calendar of events and individual performance) to handle a small event with proper guidance.
Event Management Interns at Universal Orlando are responsible for:
Supporting Event Managers in the planning and execution of on-site events, meetings, and familiarization trips for, but not limited to, Marketing/Sales, Community Relations, and Government Relations.
Working closely with various internal divisions to successfully communicate and execute events including: Operations, Entertainment, Catering, Revenue Operations, Public Relations, Guest Services, Parking, and miscellaneous external vendors.
Setting up key stakeholder meetings.
Completing and distributing event itineraries.
Facilitating event logistics and t racking event budgets.
Handling post event evaluations/recaps.
Understanding and actively participating in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Orlando policies, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
To perform the role of an Event Management Intern successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Must be actively enrolled for the Fall 2012 semester as a college Sophomore, Junior, or Senior.
Must be majoring in Event Management, Communications, Hospitality Sales or Project Management.
Minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA required.
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) preferred.
Must be available to work a minimum of three days per week, between 20-30 hours per week, from September through December 2012.

To fully understand this industry, interns will be expected to work a varying schedule, which will include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
While performing the duties of this job, the individual is exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to sit; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The individual is occasionally required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and reach with hands and arms.
