Event Coordinator Internship – Octagon – Huntersville, NC

Program Dates: July 2012 – November 2012

Position Summary:
The limited-term Event Coordinator will work with the Octagon Consulting Group located in Huntersville, NC. The candidate will be responsible for activating a mobile marketing campaign at multiple motorsports events. As a member of Octagon’s mobile marketing team, the Event Coordinator will be required to travel extensively, work weekends and provide operational support for other account projects as needed.

Responsibilities and Duties:
On-site event operations, production and execution of a mobile marketing program at motorsports events.

Drive lead generation and brand awareness for the client’s products and services.

Demonstrate the latest telecomm products/technologies while distributing collateral materials to consumers.

Extensive weekend travel and some holiday work required.

Participation in presentation of show aspects and messaging as needed.

Management of on-site promotional staff, premium and collateral inventories.

Weekly reporting to management

Assist with implementation of special projects associated with the mobile marketing program, national and regional sponsorships, etc.

Minimum of seven hours of office work per week and attendance at weekly team meeting required.

Assist other sponsorship teams as needed

Other related duties/projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Knowledge and understanding of sports and telecommunication marketing techniques.

Prefer a candidate with an interest in or major/degree in Sports Marketing or related field.

At least one previous marketing related internship/position preferred.

Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet required.

Ability to lift 25 lb. boxes/items and stand for up to eight hours at a time.

Excellent communication skills (both written and oral).

Strong ability to work as part of a team. Demonstrate initiative and solve problems independently.
