The Travel section at U.S. News & World Report (http://travel.usnews.com/) is seeking recent graduates for an internship position. The position includes a significant amount of research, data analysis, writing, and reporting. We’re looking for someone who is web-savvy and able to juggle a variety of responsibilities. Our ideal candidate is a dedicated self-starter with a strong interest in online media, writing and travel. Candidates with varied travel experience are preferred.
Responsibilities will include:
- Researching, writing, and editing travel guides
- Preparing content for our Best Hotels rankings and our Best Vacations rankings
- Researching, writing, and editing feature content
- Offering ideas and opinions on the direction, development, and design of U.S. News Travel
- Contributing to Social Media efforts
Requirements:
- Strong editing skills—you should be capable of being both editor and copyeditor, able to catch minor grammatical errors, and discern broader subject-matter problems
- Ability to work on deadlines and handle several tasks simultaneously
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Familiarity with content management systems a plus
- Knowledge of Photoshop and photo editing tools a plus
- Understanding of SEO concepts a plus
- Degrees or training in journalism or communication a plus
- Knowledge of writing and editing tools (such as content management systems and TeamBase) a plus
The internship will last 6 months. Our internship rate is $12/hour.
