The Public Relations department of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is looking for an intern spring semester. The department handles all efforts related to promoting the Orchestra’s performances and events, including concerts, press events, festivals, tours, summer concert events, as well as other special events and projects through the media (print, radio, television, internet).
The intern will assist with a variety of publicity activities and projects. Duties will include independent projects such as writing assignments, assistance with publicity efforts, assisting with calendar listings and press clippings, conducting industry-related research, updating press lists, organizing artist interviews, assisting with special events/promotions and other projects as needed, as well as general administrative support. Candidates should be pursuing a college degree in public relations, communications, journalism, music, or a related field. S/he should also have demonstrable writing and editing abilities, and be highly organized, enthusiastic, computer-proficient, and comfortable with new challenges and deadlines. A knowledge of classical music is helpful, but not essential.
Fall/spring internships are unpaid, but have flexible hours (20-25 per week) and may be tailored to fit academic needs. Summer internships, beginning in May, are full-time and include a monthly stipend. All interns receive complimentary tickets to select Atlanta Symphony events and free parking.
The offices of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra are located in the Memorial Arts Building at the Woodruff Arts Center.
