Summer Internship at STUDIO 12, Outer Banks, North Carolina
Studio 12 is the working studio and Gallery of artists Carolyn and Gary Schena. The Schena’s art work includes functional and decorative pottery, glass fusion and acrylic painting. The Studio is open to the public in the summer for walk in art experiences including pottery painting, mosaics and glass fusion as well as scheduled art classes. The gallery represents over 25 local, regional and national artists.
Studio 12 will be celebrating its 10th anniversary and is planning a variety of special promotional events throughout the summer including meet the artists, and art workshops the summer intern will help to organize and publicize these weekly events with both traditional and social media outlets. The intern should be proficient in computers skills with a plus in graphic skills or desk top publishing to create flyers and posters and be proficient in the use of social media networks such as facebook as well as good communication skills.
Studio 12 offers a variety of art classes in the summer in various mediums including glass fusion and pottery painting. The summer intern will help in the daily operations of the studio including customer service as well as help to coordinate and teach in the summer art class schedule. Duties to include advertising classes, registering students and teaching children ages 5 to 10 years old.
We are looking for a people person, someone who especially likes working with children, who is organized and artistic experience that would lend itself to teaching classes in glass fusion and or pottery painting.
This is an unpaid internship but the intern will have an opportunity to have access to studio equipment during non-peak hours and be able to work with discounted supplies to include clay, glazes, and glass.
