What we’re looking for:
A coupon-craving intern with a strong journalism background. The ideal candidate knows the best time of day to post to Twitter versus Facebook and can craft a viral Pinterest headline. This is not a “fetch coffee and file papers” internship, although some coupon cutting may be required (we’ll give you Band-Aids for any paper cuts). You will be challenged, gain practical skills and be introduced to a network of media professionals to help you in your budding career.
Overall Role & Responsibilities:
– Write blog posts about daily coupons and deals
– Pitch feature article ideas and take charge of those approved
– Maintain coupon databases
– Manage social media posts
– Proofread and fact check articles for accuracy
Skills and Competencies:
– Love for money-saving tips and frugality
– Passion for word play and crafting a well-written sentence
– Understanding that Wikipedia is not an accurate source
– Ability to pick up a phone and conduct background research
– Proactive, eager to troubleshoot problems before the occur
– Great communication skills, unafraid to ask for help or clarity on task
– Well organized and responsible
– Must be available at least three days per week, during regular office hours (9am-6pm)
Education:
– Must be currently enrolled or a graduate in a four-year university
– Must be majoring in English, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or other related topic
