Summer Internship: PR/Events (Academic Credit Only) Gilt Groupe Inc – New York, NY

Gilt Groupe is looking for excited, passionate and hard-working interns for our Summer Intern Program! We will be bringing in a group of students across all parts of the business to gain experience in our fast-paced luxury e-commerce organization to join our fantastic teams for 10 weeks. To be considered, you must provide a resume and a cover letter answering the question “Why Gilt?” and outlining your areas of interest. You must also be able to participate for the entirety of the program and provide a letter of credit for your college or university. This is an unpaid, for academic credit only internship.

The role of the Events & Public Relations intern is to support the Gilt Groupe Events and PR team. This role will report directly to the Events Manager but will work with the Public Relations Associate as well. The intern will become familiar with the events and PR processes at Gilt and learn how to manage PR/event tasks. The intern will learn how to correspond with outside parties, including media, vendors, and members of the fashion industry.

Responsibilities include:
Pre-event preparation, including organizing event materials and coordinating basic logistics

On-site assistance in New York City events, including check-in and setup

Help with gift cards and donation items for various charity events and opportunities

Work closely with the events team on daily events duties and large projects for upcoming events, including but not limited to: creative assets, guest lists, printed material and shot lists

Research new restaurants/event venues in top markets and update master list

Update national events calendar with large industry events

Aid in the preparation of daily and weekly sales pitches

Compile weekly press recaps

Help PR team with sample pulling, returns, and inventory

Help PR team write pitches and track press hits

Manage PR closet

Help with daily administration-based tasks

Qualifications include:
Must be a college student in NYC to receive school credit

Able to work at least 3-4 days a week, around 8 hours a day

Strong communication skills

Strong organization skills and attention to detail

Knowledge of Excel, Power-Point and Word

Knowledge and interest in fashion and media

Ability to multi-task and handle fast-paced environment

Ability to work some evening events when needed
