MARKETING INTERN (Summer) Elf on the Shelf Marietta, Ga.

If so, you may be just what the elves at CCA and B, LLC, A.K.A. “the North Pole,” are looking for! CCA and B, LLC, Home of the Elf on the Shelf, is looking for a Marketing Intern for the summer of 2013 at our winter wonderland headquarters located in Marietta, Georgia. The Summer Internship period begins on May 28th and ends on August 2nd. Interns must be available Monday-Thursday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. All internships require college credit and are unpaid with a stipend payable at the conclusion of the internship.
 
The Marketing Intern will learn and participate in strategy development and execution of all initiatives related to the Elf on the Shelf marketing department including brand protection, communication, advertising, special events, and promotions. The internship provides an opportunity for the intern to experience what it is like to work in a real-world, deadline-driven, collaborative, and high-energy Marketing department.
 
“Essential functions” are primary responsibilities that interns must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation made by the employer.
1.         Learn the value of Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, and Tumblr for social media marketing purposes while having first-hand exposure to each platform and the unique audience we cater to;
2.         Produce new content for Tumblr while compiling a comprehensive content calendar for Q4 with an end goal of producing a take-away internship portfolio;
3.         Develop writing skills and learn how to act as a brand ambassador by responding to “Santa’s Workshop” e-mails, writing letters as the Head Elf, and learning how to “preserve the magic” of The Elf on the Shelf brand through creative and detail-oriented interactions;
4.         Attend weekly Marketing meetings to develop an understanding of the functions of the marketing department, as well as how the marketing department supports multiple functional departments across the organization;
5.         Assemble media packets for the 2013 book tour, overseas distribution plans, Q4 publicity, and other Public Relations and Marketing needs;
6.         Learn the ins-and-outs of the process for coordinating an international book tour; work closely alongside the Marketing Team to prepare for the 2013 book tour;
7.         Develop calendar and task management skills by working with the Marketing Team to prepare a content calendar and content ideas to meet company-wide social media needs;
8.         Develop special event coordination skills by reviewing and organizing event materials from 2012 in preparation for 2013 special events;
9.         Learn about the relationship between the Marketing and Art Departments through participation in concept meetings and the art request process;
10.       Research the latest trends and newsworthy moments, so the Elf on the Shelf can remain pop-culture relevant in the realm of social media and calendar planning;
11.       Assist the Marketing team with concepts for digital strategy;
12.       Coordinate with the Marketing  team and the Warehouse for fall mailings and media shipments;
13.       Learn how to adapt and work in a fast-paced, creative environment; and
14.       Protect company assets through the proper management of asset files and adherence to company policy with regard to information security and management.
 
Requirements:
1.         Sophomore, Junior or Senior standing at an accredited college or university;
2.         Knowledge of and experience with social media platforms;
3.         Knowledge of marketing, public relations, and/or communications via a course of study in a related undergraduate program;
4.         Excellent oral and written communication skills;
5.         High degree of personal initiative and creativity;
6.         Positive “team player” attitude;
7.         Energetic;
8.         Detail-oriented and deadline driven;
9.         Active listening skills and ability to follow directions (hear, process and understand); and
10.       Strong computer/technical skills.

Students are responsible for making arrangements for course credit through their university or college internship supervisor and providing this information to the Human Resources Department upon acceptance of an internship with CCA and B, LLC. CCA and B, LLC will provide documentation of intern’s hours and will complete intern evaluation forms and other administrative paperwork as required by the university.
