Created in 1962 through a unique agreement between the Organization of American States (OAS) and the private sector, the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) is an independent, non-profit organization 501(c)(3) that creates public-private partnerships to assist the least advantaged people in Latin America and the Caribbean. Having worked in every country in the region, PADF engages community-based groups, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), public and private sector in the process of implementing appropriate solutions for sustainable development. The Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) empowers disadvantaged people and communities in Latin America and the Caribbean to achieve sustainable economic and social progress, strengthen their communities and civil society, and prepare for and respond to natural disasters and other humanitarian crises, thereby advancing the principles of the Organization of the American States (OAS).

PADF is seeking a Program Communications-Summer 2013 Intern with experience working with local, national, international NGOs to work closely with the programs team.

Supervision
Reports to the Project Director

Education Required
Currently obtaining an undergraduate or graduate degree in PR, Advertising, English, Journalism, International Relations or related field. Applications from recent graduates will also be accepted.

Language Proficiency Required
Excellent oral and writing abilities in English and Spanish

Qualifications

  • Exceptional writing skills and solid organizational skills
  • Familiar with design, layout, photo editing, and video editing
  • Advanced knowledge in editing programs and software
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and complete tasks on time
  • Interest in international affairs, particularly the Western Hemisphere
  • Knowledge of key actors and issues in international development, particularly in Latin American and the Caribbean

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Writing, editing, and proofreading program publications and proposal documents
  • Translating documents and other multimedia materials in English and/or Spanish
  • Updating the program website and related micro sites
  • Organizing and maintaining the database of photographs, videos, and other material
  • Working with outside vendors, participating in the workflow and processing payments
  • Editing raw footage into short clips suitable for dissemination
  • Assisting with analysis of information for presentation of success stories and beneficiary spotlights
  • Consolidation of information for reporting purposes
  • Implementing marketing activities, including online and print campaigns
  • Ensuring that collateral materials are current, producing and distributing new support materials
  • Writing and editing Power Point presentations that support the promotion of the program
