Cancer Survivorship Program

Brody School of Medicine,

Department of Oncology

About the Internship:

Are you looking for an exciting internship in the field of Health Communication?  An internship that will give you hands on experience while making invaluable professional connections, where no two days are ever the same?  An internship that will allow you to truly make a difference in the lives of Eastern North Carolina’s cancer survivors and their caregivers?  Then look no further!  An internship with the Brody School of Medicine’s Department of Oncology in conjunction with the Leo W. Jenkins Cancer Center (LWJCC) will give you all this and more.  The Department of Oncology and LWJCC provide exceptional care to cancer patients in the 29 counties east of highway 95.  Because of the high level of care, we are seeing more cancer survivors.  According to the American Cancer Society, there are now more than 13.7 million cancer survivors in the United States and that number is expected to jump to 18 million by 2022.  For this reason, developing solid cancer survivorship programs is more important than ever before.
