The mission of the Children’s Museum of the Arts (CMA) is to extend the benefits of the arts to all children and their communities and to secure the future of the arts by inspiring and championing the next generation of artists and art lovers. As part of a two-year grant from the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation, CMA has launched a new center for teens (young artists in 6-9th grade) to be called the “Young Artist Kollective (YAK).” We are looking for a highly organized and self-directed individual to join our program staff as the Teen Programs Intern. The Intern will report directly to the Manager of Museum Education Programs, Valerie Kharchenko and will work closely with lead program staff to help coordinate the logistics of all YAK activities as well as CMA fee-based teen programs, including after school classes, weekend Art-in-Focus classes, and monthly “Art Slams,” social and creative events for participants.

Primary Responsibilities include:
*Assist in the management of CMA’s teen internship program and day-to-day check in procedures.
*Recruit and conduct outreach to NYC middle and high schools to increase participation in CMA’s teen program (YAK, teen membership, classes, internship opportunities, slams).
*Maintain teen database list serve and YAK membership lists.
*Coordinate all special set-ups and food for class nights and teen Art Slams.
*Participate in the planning, organizing, and scheduling of field trips, enrichment activities, special events, guest artists, and other year round program activities.
*Work with Development Department to coordinate social media communication including Facebook, texting reminders, twitter, etc.
*Assist CMA Teaching Artists in workshops and classes, as needed.
*Provide additional supervision during teen programs, ensuring a safe, fun and creative environment.
*Perform other administrative duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
*A Bachelor’s degree in Arts Administration or Education
*Outgoing, energetic, self-motivated, and passionate about art.
*Strong people skills and the ability to work well with both teens and adults.
*Work independently as well as collaboratively.
*Knowledge of NYC arts community as well as an appreciation and knowledge for traditional and contemporary artists and practices.
