Overview:
New York Public Radio seeks an intern to work in our Publicity Department. In this role, the individual will assist the station’s Senior Director of Publicity and Publicist in their efforts to promote WNYC, WQXR and The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space to local and national media.

The ideal candidate is well-organized, highly productive, self-motivated and detail-oriented – excellent interpersonal, telephone and written communications skills are a must. A significant part of the job will involve creating and updating press lists and department archives. The position requires an ability to multi-task and juggle various projects.

Responsibilities:
Monitoring daily papers and conducting blog research

Researching requests for Program Information

Assisting publicist in creating and assembling media kits, tracking media coverage

Researching media contacts and updating WNYC and WQXR’s electronic databases

Sorting, collating, copying and filing weekly media clippings about WNYC and WQXR and their programs

Providing support for events held in The Greene Space, the station’s street-level broadcast and performance studio

Qualifications:
Communications background is a plus, but all interested candidates are encouraged to apply

An appreciation for and interest in public radio, news and/or classical music

Strong writing and organizational skills

Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications

Familiarity with image editing programs such as Photoshop is a plus
