Pitt Community College seeking Fall Media Relations Intern – Greenville, NC

PCC is once again seeking an ECU student to serve as our media relations intern during the fall semester. The internship will require the student to put in 15-20 hours per week at PCC. It runs from mid-August until mid-December and pays the student a $1,200-stipend — $600 at the semester’s midway point and $600 more at the end of it. If the intern does an outstanding job, he or she could be asked to continue with the internship during the spring semester for another $1,200-stipend.
   The following duties are what the intern will need to focus on this fall:
–Posting information on upcoming college events on social media (i.e. Facebook and Twitter)
–Updating PCC athletics web pages (stories, photos, rosters, schedules) for four intercollegiate athletics teams: baseball, basketball, softball and volleyball
–Assisting the media relations specialist with video shoots
–Assisting the media relations director with photo shoots
–Writing sporting event recaps to post on the web and seek comments from coaches following games to include in the recaps
–Occasionally taking photos of sporting events, crop and post on places like Facebook and Flickr
–Other duties as assigned, such as setup for the PCC Foundation Down East Holiday Show and PCC Foundation Golf Classic
   A questionnaire needs to be completed as part of the screening process. The position will remain open until filled, preference will be given to those who apply by Aug. 8.
