Part-time, Internship

The intern will assist with the coordination, scheduling and marketing of our volunteer program for both of Habitat for Humanity-MidOhio ReStore locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

1. Work closely with ReStore staff to recruit, schedule, and track volunteers for various volunteer positions to meet current and upcoming needs of operations
2. Responsible for orienting, scheduling, and tracking mandatory hour volunteers (i.e. Federal Work Study, court ordered, and community partnerships) in the ReStore
3. Maintain database of past, present, and potential volunteers
4. Assist in the coordination, planning, and implementation of ReStore special events and community outreach booths
5. Assist in ensuring that all necessary tools, materials, and vehicles are available for upcoming volunteer and outreach event needs
6. Contribute creative and logistical support to staff in coordinating appreciation for volunteers
7. Look for ways to tie the ReStore volunteer experience to Habitat’s mission
8. Attend fairs and local meetings to learn about volunteer networks and meet prospective volunteers
9. Personally provide volunteers prompt service at all times. Identify and respond actively and with sensitivity to the needs of all customers. Relay any customer concern (with regard to service, pricing, and/or quality of merchandise) to the ReStore Director
10. Coordinate/cooperate with other volunteers, staff, and community service people making the experience positive and meaningful
11. Follow ReStore guidelines to ensure acceptable donations and effective/efficient processing and coordination with ReStore staff
12. Demonstrate a commitment to quality improvement process and the philosophy of continuous improvement in the ReStore. Participate as a team player in all phases of the ReStore and ensure positive relationships with ReStore staff. Receive direction from the ReStore Director and ReStore Resource Coordinator
13. Adhere to current Habitat/ReStore policies and procedures
14. Perform other duties and tasks as needed

Qualifications:

Strong interest in non-profit, volunteer management and community outreach
• Experience in a leadership role and/or office environment preferred
• Requires excellent written and verbal communication, organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask
• Must be computer proficient in Microsoft Office, including: Word, Excel and email correspondence and able to learn affiliate database and volunteer online recruiting system
• Must be able to give and receive detailed information through verbal
communication
• Must be able to handle difficult conversations with people of various backgrounds
• Must be able to work independently and be a self-starter
• Must like working in a group dynamic and have a personality that enjoys meeting new people of all ages and backgrounds
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• Reliable means of transportation is required
