Digital Content Intern – Monumental Sports & Entertainment – Washington, DC

Monumental Sports & Entertainment owns and operates three professional sports teams: the NBA’s Washington Wizards, the NHL’s Washington Capitals, and the WNBA’s Washington Mystics. Monumental, which merged Lincoln Holdings and Washington Sports & Entertainment on June 10, 2010, also owns and operates Verizon Center, the premier sports and entertainment venue in Washington, D.C. Additionally, the group operates Kettler Capitals Iceplex, the Capitals’ state-of-the-art training facility in Arlington, Va., and George Mason University’s Patriot Center, located in Fairfax, Va.

OVERVIEW:
Monumental Sports & Entertainment’s Productions Department is looking for a digital content intern to assist WashingtonCaps.com and the Monumental Network for the 2013-14 season.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide support for the Digital Content Producer and other members of Monumental Sports & Entertainment’s productions department.
• Shoot video and cover events for WashingtonCapitals.com and the Monumental Network.
• Occasionally host on-camera segments for WashingtonCapitals.com.
• Edit short packages for WashingtonCapitals.com and the Monumental Network.
• Modify graphics for use on WashingtonCapitals.com and the Monumental Network.
• Assist in setting up and breaking down press conferences at Kettler Capitals Iceplex as well as assorted shoots at KCI and Verizon Center.
• Tweet from @CapitalsIntern on Twitter about experiences and the team.
• Create written pieces for Washington Capitals social media sites and WashingtonCapitals.com.
• Assist the productions/communications department on game nights.
• Assist the communications department with game notes, transcribing interviews, gathering quotes, etc.
• Assist with other tasks and projects as required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be able to receive college/university/graduate credit for internship.
• Knowledge of shooting video coverage with high definition video cameras.
• Knowledge of Final Cut Pro and the ability to edit short packages together.
• Some on camera experience (not required).
• Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.
• Knowledge of CMS and basic HTML.
• Experience working with athletes.
• Enrolled or a recent graduate of a college/university communications program or related field (video, television, broadcast journalism, public relations).
• Is comfortable with technology and learning new systems.
