About this opportunity
The Teaching Channel is looking for a resourceful and dedicated individual who would like to gain experience in producing and programming educational content for teachers. The internship is for approximately 20 hours per week, ideally spread out over a few days. This is a paid position and lasts three months, after which time there may be an opportunity for renewal. This position will begin in early October, 2013, and is primarily located in Oakland, California.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Write promotional copy
  • Proofread copy
  • Select and edit images for social media promotions
  • Prepare content for website (WordPress)
  • Research audience needs and habits
  • Interact with our community on the website and in social media
  • Gather metrics

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong writing skills
  • Strong internet research skills
  • An interest in education and of gaining an understanding of Teaching Channel’s audience of teachers, administrators, and policy makers
  • Strong computer skills that include Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Gmail
  • A good understanding of how editorial content is shared and consumed on major social media outlets, such as Facebook, Twitter, G+, and Pinterest
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with WordPress
